Membrane Switches

A membrane switch, also known as a keypad or keyboard, is an effective way to create a human-machine interface with your end product while retaining all the benefits of a fully printed overlay.

The finished membrane consists of a printed circuit layer and a front overlay and is both functional and informative. When environmental factors are a consideration, the sealed technology of the overlay is an excellent solution for membrane switches.

Bischoff membrane switches are manufactured by our qualified staff in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and UL approval, ensuring that your membranes are fully functional and meet the highest standards. All membrane switches undergo 100% final inspection to ensure error-free operation and to ensure that the keys last as long as the machine they control.

Durable

We manufacture the membranes using the same techniques we use for our durable overlays, and with subsurface printing, the membrane withstands even the harshest treatment and cleaning.

Versatile

Each membrane can be manufactured to a specific design and layout, offering greater flexibility in terms of size, format, materials, and finishes. Combined with a range of adhesives, we can ensure they adhere easily to your product.

Embossed

For many applications, Bischoff embosses or hydroforms the keys of a switch to meet customer requirements. Depending on the desired finish of the final membrane, “Pillow Embossing,” “Dome Embossing,” “Rail Embossing,” or “Multi-Level Embossing” can be used.

Simple Connections

The membranes can be provided with either bare terminals or a Crimpflex® connector for quick and easy connection to your circuit board.

Tactile and Non-Tactile

The keys can be manufactured with either tactile feedback that confirms activation when pressed, or in a non-tactile format for an absolutely flat surface for easy cleaning and maximum durability.

Pinouts

Membrane switch circuits can be manufactured in two formats: a standard bus layout or in a matrix format.
